Richmond's First Certified Primary Stroke Center

Henrico County TV program featuring Dr. Robert White, CJW’s Mary Morrissette, and several CJW Stroke survivors.

Richmond's First Certified Primary Stroke Center
We are the First Certified Primary
Stroke Center in Richmond.

At CJW Medical Center, both of our Emergency Centers — Chippenham and Johnston-Willis — are poised and ready to call a special “Code Neuro” when a stroke patient arrives, speeding up diagnosis and treatment, improving the chance for a full recovery. This prompt, expert stroke care is one reason CJW has been named Richmond’s first certified Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

Spotlight on Excellence... CJW Medical Center has been presented Senate Joint Resolution No. 427 commending Virginia's certified Primary Stroke Centers. A copy of the resolution was given to CJW Medical Center as an expression of the General Assembly's gratitude for our dedication to improving treatment for stroke patients in the Commonwealth.

Delays can cost you brain cells. Getting treatment immediately, within the first three hours of the onset of symptoms, could make the difference between recovery and permanent brain damage or death. New clot-busting drugs have dramatic results if given within the first three hours of the onset of stroke symptoms. Learn more about the treatment available at CJW Medical Center...
